Turmeric is the new super food and has all sorts of benefits like being anti-viral, anti-fungal & anti-inflammatory. So when we saw this recipe from The Pretend Baker (and saw how incredibly easy it was) we had to get in the kitchen and give it a try for ourselves. The bright orange root adds colour to your morning routine and it only takes 5 minutes!
We used our Porridge Oats & Healthy Grains blend, but any one of our blends would do.

First you toast the porridge oats in some coconut oil with the spices over medium heat.

Then you add in the cashew milk, maple syrup & vanilla.

Stir constantly for a few minutes (until you reach your desired consistency). And serve!


INGREDIENTS

1/2 cup Rogers Porridge Oats
1 tsp. coconut oil
1/4 tsp. ground turmeric
1/4 tsp. ground ginger
1/8 tsp. ground cinnamon
pinch of fresh black pepper
2 pinches of salt
1 cup cashew milk
1 tsp. maple syrup
1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
banana slices, shredded coconut, nut butter to serve

DIRECTIONS

In a small pot over medium heat, melt the coconut oil. Add the oats and spices. Lightly toast, stirring frequently for 2 minutes.
Add the cashew milk (caution, it can splatter), maple syrup and vanilla. Stir to combine. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently or until thick and creamy.
Top with banana slices & coconut (or whatever you desire) and serve.
